Latifa Echakhch, Morocco living in Switzerland

Screen Shot [2016] is a maze of white screens about the height of the artist arranged in a maze and located in a museum gallery; ink soaked clothing drapes over the screens and

drips ontoSchermata-2015-12-04-alle-11.01.31[1].jpg the white screens. Echakhch, an immigrant herself, references the Syrian refugees who risked their lives to crowd onto boat on the Mediterranean Sea, seeking safety and peace. The dripping clothing references the harshness of the journey and pays homage to those who did not reach their destinations.
